What is this?
Join the WCCC 'Hoosier Chapter' for Lorie's Lakeside Century starting in Chesterton, Indiana. You may ride 15, 28, 38, or our 62 or 100-mile century to New Buffalo, MI. The terrain is flat to gently rolling with rest stops every 15 – 20 miles. This will be our 3rd year doing this ride, and it's a very easy ride.
Members are also welcome to join Curt and Ken after the ride for dinner at their Ogden Dunes residence. There may be space for riders to stay over before or after the ride. Contact Curt Winkle curt.winkle@me.com about dinner and/or staying over.
This ride is in memory of Lorie Kirkley, She was an avid cyclist and nurse at a local hospital. She was brutally murdered by a co-worker in 1999 and her family decided to organize a ride in her honor so that her memory would not always be associated with the manner of her death. In the past her family members have been present at the beginning and end of the ride. Over the years the charities have changed but they are always worthwhile causes. At present, proceeds go to the Visiting Nurses Association of Porter County. The roads and terrain are similar to the Saugatuck ride. This ride is a fundraiser, but there is no minimum. The charity for 2013 hasn't been announced yet, as of March 1, 2013.
From the ride website: Cycle through farmland and prairie, the Indiana Dunes, and along breath taking Lake Michigan — on routes that highlight the scenery and history of our Casual Coast and countryside. You’ll have marked roads, maps, great rest stops, and support vehicles on the ride. Also included is delicious food before, during and after the ride. Lively entertainment along the route.
You must register with the event at

, but we also recommend registration on the WCCC website so that we know to expect you.
