This wine tasting party has some simple rules.
1. Each person brings 2 bottles of wine.
- One bottle will be part of the tasting.
- The second bottle will be part of the prize.
2. If you obtain the wine ahead of time, email Mark at email.mark.999@gmail.com the name and description so it can be added to the description list. If you are a last minute person, come between 6:30-7:30 and we'll do this onsite. All bottles must be "entered" by 7:30 PM as this is when the descriptions will be printed off and the tasting begins.
For example:
The description for a bottle of Elk Cove Vineyards 2012 Willamette Valley Pinot Noir:
"Relatively lush for the coolness of the vintage, this velvety red leads with dark cherry scents gathered by tarry earthiness. Ths flavors stay dark and savory, the gripping tannins a touch furry, suggesting that it's pack with potential energy. A year in the cellar will give it further definition."
3. All tasting bottles will be covered and identified by a number. All party-goers will be given a description list. The goal is to match the number identifying the wine with the description and submit your matches by 9:30 PM (hiccup!)
4. Winners to be announced after 9:30 PM
- First prize gets 1/2 of the second bottles
- Second prize gets 1/4 of the second bottles
- Third prize gets 1/4 of the second bottle
- Anyone is welcome to take their original and opened bottles home with them if they choose (if any are left with this group!)
If you want to join us and not bring wine for whatever reason, you are welcome to partake in the fun; you just will not be eligible for the prizes.
