What is this?
Critical Mass is held on the last Friday of every month.
It's a fun, slow (5-10 mph) party on wheels with a thousand other Chicago bikers! The route is always up in the air until the event so it could head off to the south, west, or north initially to explore the Chicago streets and greet all with a "Happy Friday".

Peel off and head home whenever you want.
Wear as little as you dare because the July 31st ride happens to be Underwear Mass which is a bike ride & skate in support of gender equality. This will be the 5th female led, male supported ride that advocates positive body image and gender equality. The ride takes place the last Friday in July and more than 1,000 Chicago Critical Mass participants are encouraged to bike in their underwear.
In 2009 one female led the ride. In 2012 two females led the ride. In 2013, 4 females led the ride. In 2014 17 women took the lead, we hope 79 females will lead the ride in 2015. Seventy-nine symbolizes the number of years that males have had the right to be top free in America but not females. In solidarity with women we’re hoping 79 males will cover their nipples with ora
nge tape or stickers to draw visual attention to the silly and unfair criminalization of the female nipple: see Chicago municipal ordinance 8-8-080.
