The Start of the Ride
WCCC members and their friends meet on the bike path at 31st Street Beach across from the painted trees around 8:45am on Sunday morning and leave promptly at 9:00am toward the south side. If you’re coming in from the suburbs, there is parking nearby.

If you want extra miles, feel free to ride to 31st Beach

The Ride
The ride will be recreational so an easy, slower pace for a total of 20 miles max (shorter if we turn around sooner depending onto group) but broken up as we visit the parks and stop for brunch. We are taking this part of the trail (and later bike lanes on Route 42) because it is usually not congested and away from traffic. The route goes 10 miles south to explore Steel Worker's Park next to the site of the US Steel complex known as South Works with the giant ruins of the concrete ore walls, just north of the Calumet River. Will then cross the Ewing Avenue bridge, the oldest highway bascule bridge on the Calumet River, and turn around in Calumet Park, literally a stone's throw from the Indiana border just off shore.

Brunch in Hyde Park
On the way back, we can stop in Hyde Park at Medici’s on 57th Street (1327 E 57th St, Phone: 773-667-7394) for brunch. So if you want to join us at Medici’s we’ll arrive around 11:00am (give or take). All riders should bring a lock, if possible (we can share if you don't have one) and money for brunch. Check the WCCC home page (http://windycitycycling.com) on the right side for status (or @WCCCbike on Twitter)

Bring a Friend
All WCCC members are welcome to bring their friends along. We all understand that it’s hard sometimes to come to a group alone, that’s why we encourage everyone to bring friends. Our recreational rides are meant to be social, so we strongly encourage everyone to come ready to meet someone. The more cyclists…the merrier!
