DETAILS

About the ride:

Round trip ride to Milwaukee: 90 or 55 mile options each way. Ride to Milwaukee on Friday, June 9th, Return to Chicago on Sunday, June 11th.

Official training ride for Ride For AIDS Chicago (RFAC), and an excellent way to get long miles in over a weekend of fun!

Meet Friday, June 9th starting at 6 a.m. in front of Nookies Edgewater. Drop off your bag, check your tires and water bottles and get ready for the day. The group rides out together at 7:00am. The route is mostly roads with some paved paths on our way to Milwaukee. SAG stop and lunch schedules are based on riders maintaining an average pace of 12-16 mph.

If you want to bike fewer miles, you can take the Metra to Waukegan and join us at 10:00 a.m. (or whenever the group gets there.) Check out the Chicago train stops and which one works best for you at Metra Schedule. Train #363 arrives in Waukegan at 9:50am and allows bikes.

A SAG vehicle will be available to carry one overnight bag per rider and offer drinks and snacks along the course. The SAG vehicle's role is to support the riders in the group and will have limited space for passengers. Riders are expected to ride their bikes the distance except for illness or mechanical issues.

There's another option too, if you don't want to bike on both days. Amtrak offers frequent and inexpensive runs between Chicago and Milwaukee for approximately $25 one way. And only $5 more to bring your bike on board! So you can choose to ride either Friday or Sunday or both! Check out the Amtrak schedule. The Amtrak is only a few blocks to our host hotel in Downtown Milwaukee. This also provides a nice option if you need to work on Friday but want to join us on Friday night or Saturday morning in Milwaukee and ride back on Sunday.
